Students > Selection

Selection Steps

To be able to take the Selection exam, students must have reached the grade 12.

The selection is done in 3 successive stages :

  • in Logic, Mathematics, Speed Accuracy and English.
  • in order to check the candidates capacities.
  • to ensure that they have enough motivation and maturity to succeed in the training.
  • to check that the candidates come from an underpriviledged background.
  • pupils from NGOs are automatically accepted.
  • Information Sessions

CIST informs students about its scholarship through nationwide campaigns.

The objective of these presentations is to reach underprivileged grade 12 - students and give them ground understanding of IT uses and of CIST's programs. Then the students interested in CIST's training fill application forms necessary to take the written exam.

In order to find enough students fitting its criteria, CIST had to increase his coverage of Cambodia. In 2009 we performed 72 presentation sessions, covering 7000 attendees in 20 provinces.

    A Key Activity of CIST

Each year, all CIST team is involved in the selection process :

    • This selection is a very long process : it starts in February and ends in October, A part of the CIST organization objective is that each staff member (teachers, IT administrators, volunteers …) spends at least 6 days on the field.
    • Correction of the written exam is done by the staff.
    • Each staff member has to participate to social committees which validate the social status of each candidate. For complex cases we invite our partner NGOs to participate to those committees.
